Something That Has Never Been Done Before

By Katy Monday, July 25, 2011 11 Comments

I am not sure if you have heard the news about Francis Ford Coppola’s latest movie: TWIXT. First, it is a horror movie. Nothing new about that. But here is the kicker – the movie will be changed during the viewing depending on the audience’s reaction. Yes, you read that right. The movie will be altered with different scenes for that particular live audience BY the director himself. AMAZING concept.

Now, I don’t know how many viewings he will do or how this will get out to mass audiences, but I sort of want to see it now although horror movies scare the heck out of me. I will forgo my own fears to experience something like that.

NetFlix Announces Price Hike: Angry Customers

By Lisa Tuesday, July 12, 2011 5 Comments

Okay, quick post here. Twitter is a flurry with angry NetFlix customers, so much so that the term “dear netflix” is trending!

Netflix announced a price hike today and you can read the whole story at the link below.

What I want to know, is why use them anyways?! I have ondemand and I LOVE redbox. So am I really missing out because I wait for the movies to be available? Don’t people remember paying $5 for one movie just a few years ago?!

I understand the frustrations, but people really! Blasting Netflix via Twitter and Facebook is no way to go. You don;t think they knew this back lash would occur?!

What are your thoughts on the NetFlix price increases?

Saving Grace B Jones: Trailer

By Lisa Sunday, July 10, 2011 4 Comments

Okay, now this is my kind of movie folks! Anything having to do with crazies at the asylum is right up my alley. Saving Grace B. Jones stars Penelope Ann Miller and Tatum O’neal as Grace (go figure); listed below is a general synopsis of the flick. Following that is the trailer that has been released for the film. Let me know your thoughts!

In a 1950s-era Missouri town, the life of a couple is thrown into chaos when the husband’s sister is released from the local asylum and comes to live with the family.

Mission Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol

By Katy Tuesday, July 5, 2011 6 Comments

I went to the movie theaters this week to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon and sat through six previews. Most of the movies are on my list to see but one popped out as a must-see movie. Mission Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol.

Now I know you are probably thinking I am a huge Tom Cruise fan. I have enjoyed a movie or two of his but when I saw Simon Pegg is in this movie I almost screamed. I love him. He may be one of the funniest actors out there and I am really looking forward to seeing him in this film. Enjoy the trailer (I only saw about a third of it so I can be fully surprised later). Also, Jeremy Renner is in it. Yeah!

Do You Follow Actors on Twitter?

By Katy Friday, July 1, 2011 2 Comments

Do you follow actors on twitter? If so, do their tweets help motivate you to see their movies? Or not?

I am on Twitter and found that sometimes I have no idea what the actors are talking about half the time. For me I enjoy finding out the occasional movie release date helpful – like I just read Thor 2 will be released in the summer of 2013. That little nugget will get buried but now I know when to expect it. (yes, I follow Chris Hemsworth!)

Same question but this one is about Facebook – do “like” a lot of actors or follow their fanpage update?

What Film Can You Watch Over & Over?

By Katy Wednesday, June 29, 2011 3 Comments

Since beginning my film reviewing career, many have asked me what my favorite movies are.  It usually is in the form of a question like: “What are your top 5 favorite movies?” I can’t quite put that list together. There are too many to list.

I do have several that I will watch over and over because they allow that ultimate escape from reality. Do I think they are masterpieces? Sure, some of them are but some are pure camp. I can’t put movie in categories as favorites or the best. I just doesn’t work like that for me. But how about you?

So, instead of telling me what your top 5 movies are – tell me which ones you watch over and over.

Captain America Coming Soon

By Lisa Tuesday, June 28, 2011 2 Comments

Well, if you own a TV, you know Captain America is coming soon to theaters. Now, I really despise comic books. Just a personal opinion here, but we all have those right?! Opinions that is.

My thoughts on this Captain America coming to the big screen are mixed. I did not read the comic book and I already feel like grown men act ridculous emulating these super heroes. So, how will the big picture infiltrate these men’s minds?

I envision a million and one Halloween coswtumes parading the parties with bulging biceps and a protruding blue chest. Sometimes I think these movies will entertain the teen population, but for real….grown men get all into these superhero flicks. Spidey, Superman, all of them. With the Green Lantern making noise it’s safe to assume Captain America will do the same.

Me personally, I have no desire to see this flick either in theaters or rental. Actually, I probably wouldn’t watch it for free!! Sorry Captain!

What are your thoughts??

Sundance On Demand Debacle

By Lisa Sunday, June 26, 2011 0 Comments

sundance on demand, time warner cableOkay, so you remember from one of my last posts, I was going to have a weekend soire with one of my friends who began to tire of movies. Still can’t get over that one! We were going to have a Sundance festival in my house with my Sundance on demand channel and I was going to reinvigorate their love for movies. Debacle!

Why a debacle?! I have real issues with Time Warner Cable. Seriously, if I pay for on demand, why won’t it work on demand?! It works when they want it to work. We tried to call up several movies yesterday to watch and every single time, we got the folowing message: blah blah blah not available, try again later.

How many times did we try? At least 50!! I just want to watch a movie for crying out loud. Ridiculous. I pay, therfore I want. Is that such a bad thing???? I think not.

So, I guess we will be rescheduling this Sundance film festival in my house for another day. Until then, my friend is still boycotting movies. Damn, TWC!

Ever Tire Of Movies?

By Lisa Wednesday, June 22, 2011 1 Comment

tired of movies, sundanceOkay, so here is a debatable question; ever tire of movies? Stop rolling on the floor laughing! I talked to a friend of mine this past weekend who stated the following; “movies bore me, I’m tired of them!”

I almost fell out of my chair. Bore you??!! You are not seeing the right movies my friend. So, how did I handle this absolutely ludicrous statement? Well, instead of offering to take them to the movies, I invited them over to my place this weekend for a movie in. Yep, an all day event.

I plan on grabbing the Sundance on demand channel and not looking back. I think the issue here is that this poor sole only sees movies like The Hangover and American Pie. While those were amazingly funny flicks, they don;t grasp your soul with depth and wanting more.

So this weekend, I will be watching some great Sundance flicks and I will be back with some reviews for you…and hopefully a new movie buff! Tire of movies. Please!!

What about you? Do you ever tire of movies?

Footloose Remake, REALLY!?

By Katy Wednesday, June 22, 2011 1 Comment

I saw the preview yesterday to the remake of Footloose - coming out this October. After the preview ended, I sat there mouth ajar. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME MOVIE – just with different people and some slightly more provocative dance steps. WHY!!?? Will someone please explain this to me?

It is completely understandable that the story of Footloose is a classic, and I was fortunate enough to be growing up during its release in 1984. But I can’t fathom as to why they would remake it or remake it with some of the exact, iconic scenes.

I couldn’t find a decent trailer to embed on here but here is a link to watch it.
