I LOVED The Color Purple, Soul Food, The Wood….all of those soulful, family oriented movies with a true meaning. Now I see The Help is coming soon. OMG, it looks so good!
How brilliant is that saying?! And how true too. Oh, and you really can’t have a flick like this without the incomparable Cicely Tyson. Oh, Im gonna cry just thinking about it.
Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help
Who doesn’t love Helen Mirren?! Well, she ‘s back in The Debt due for August 2011 release. Check out the storyline below and then enjoy the trailer!
The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren) and Stefan (two-time Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds of Focus’ “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”). All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1966, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain [soon to be seen in "The Tree of Life"], Marton Csokas [Universal's upcoming "Dream House"], and Sam Worthington ["Avatar," "Clash of the Titans"]) tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen of “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace”) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team’s mission was accomplished — or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations.

So, I thought it would be fun to look at all the fan videos and craziness and pretend like I was a part of this epic last film! Enjoy the video below of some of the fans in the DC area hoping to get some Harry Potter tickets.
Okay, quick post here. Twitter is a flurry with angry NetFlix customers, so much so that the term “dear netflix” is trending!
Netflix announced a price hike today and you can read the whole story at the link below.
What I want to know, is why use them anyways?! I have ondemand and I LOVE redbox. So am I really missing out because I wait for the movies to be available? Don’t people remember paying $5 for one movie just a few years ago?!
I understand the frustrations, but people really! Blasting Netflix via Twitter and Facebook is no way to go. You don;t think they knew this back lash would occur?!
What are your thoughts on the NetFlix price increases?
Okay, now this is my kind of movie folks! Anything having to do with crazies at the asylum is right up my alley. Saving Grace B. Jones stars Penelope Ann Miller and Tatum O’neal as Grace (go figure); listed below is a general synopsis of the flick. Following that is the trailer that has been released for the film. Let me know your thoughts!
In a 1950s-era Missouri town, the life of a couple is thrown into chaos when the husband’s sister is released from the local asylum and comes to live with the family.
I know I should be all thrilled that Harrison Ford is in this flick. I mean, that could be the saving grace for Cowboys and Aliens. However, everytime I see the preview I just shake my head. I just don’t know that this flick is going to be on my list of movies to see.
It looks funky to me. I mean, I like the realistic factor in movies as much as the next person. I can handle crazy plots and scenearios too. But this??? I mean, it’s John Wayne meets E.T.!! ( I think John Wayne would win that battle.)
Am I crazy? Am I missing something here? It looks flat out nut-zoid to me and I don’t even know if I could sit through it to give a review!!!
What are your thoughts on Cowboys and Aliens? Trailer is below.
I think we have run into this situation at one time or another in our working careers; horrible bosses. Personally, I feel we can learn something from every boss we have; good or bad.
We take something away from all of them. I my self have experienced this and that is why I am looking forward to seeing the new flick, Horrible Bosses.
I think it looks hilarious and is fresh humor. Many people who saw Hangover 2 said it was the same movie as the first one. I have not seen it yet, so I can not say for sure if that is the case….however, I am always happy with fresh, new comedy.
The previews for Horrible Bosses made me laugh out loud so I am looking forward to it. Check out the trailer below and let me know if you agree.
So last night I rented Country Strong, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw. Aside from McGraw having what appeared to be a full head of hair, I was pretty impressed with the film.
Typical story of a county struggle, but told a bit differently. Paltrow is a superstar already and in rehab. Getting out of rehab early, she embarks on an encore tour to renew her career after a horrible mishap 9 months prior.
If you have not seen this movie already, I won’t give away big details, but I will tell you this; break out the kleenex. Maybe I am just emotional right now or maybe Country Strong just really tugs at the heart strings.
Although the storyline seems to move fast and not give much history on the characters, you become completely involved in their mess. I thought McGraw did a fine job and Patrow’s voice was exceptional. However, I have been waiting for Paltrow to take up a singing career since I heard her version of Betty Davis Eyes about 10 years ago.
I don’t like her singing country though….although she did great; as a matter of fact I will be downloading a few songs today from the film.
Have you seen it? Thoughts?
I am slightly frightened by all the remakes of the movies I remember as a kid. I mean, are we out of fresh ideas or is that we can make the old ones so much better with the new technology? Either way, I remember the original Planet of the Apes….if only a few scenes.
I know I saw a monkey talking and it freaked me out. I thought it was the strangest thing I had ever seen.
My friends tell me it was a great flick and that I am missing out on some true talent. So, maybe I will check it out before I see the new one coming in August 2011; Rise Of The Planet of the Apes.
Now this flick stars James Franco….mister cutie pants himself. So, I might have to see the original and then check this out. Visusal effects are brought to you from the same people who did Avatar and Lord of the Rings, so I have no doubt this is going to be a spectacular visual show.
Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.
I was thinking the other day about all the movies I loved watching from years ago. It made me think of the category here called Sundays Past. The movie that kept entering my mind was Death Becomes Her. What a hoot!!
Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn are flawless in this movie. And seeing as they wish to erase their physical flaws in the movie, it’s quite a fitting interpretation of the pair.
I loved this movie on so many levels. The comedy was brilliant, the acting superb….of course with those two.
Also, the effects were astonishing for that time period. I mean, one of these ladies is walking around with a giant hole in the middle of their body! And I do mean GIANT.
I have probably watched this movie 30 times and I laugh every time. For me, late 80′s movies just instantly transport me back to my youth and make me smile. I have another one in mind as well…but I will save that for next time cuz it’s a fantastic 80′s teen flick and one I would love to see remade. Since we are in the age of remakes and all.
Have you seen Death Becomes Her and what did you think of it??
