Project Status update – At last

By Pedro Sttau Thursday, March 15, 2012 8 Comments

As promised, here we go! Unfortunately as you might have imagined by now the development of the project suffered a major step back two months ago and the progress was almost halted. We continued to progress everyday but the pace was very slow, it became impossible to predict when we would be able to go beta.

I have to confess that when I first started I had no idea of the sheer dimension of what I was getting into. I have worked on hundreds of projects through the years, some of them were technically complex but nothing quite like this.

Fortunately all of these mishaps are a thing of the past, during the last month we have reached a stage of the project where every major functionality has been developed and is in place, and we are very close to entering our beta testing phase.

I don’t think I have ever written about this, but the project was intended to be released on the 5th of November 2010, and coincidently one year later it’s the exact release date.
This date has a lot of personal meaning to me, and it is the definite “do or break

Will keep you posted and will circulate an update soon!

The Help: Trailer

By Lisa Wednesday, July 27, 2011 6 Comments

I LOVED The Color Purple, Soul Food, The Wood….all of those soulful, family oriented movies with a true meaning. Now I see The Help is coming soon. OMG, it looks so good!

Change begins With A Whisper

How brilliant is that saying?! And how true too. Oh, and you really can’t have a flick like this without the incomparable Cicely Tyson. Oh, Im gonna cry just thinking about it. :)

Something That Has Never Been Done Before

By Katy Monday, July 25, 2011 11 Comments

I am not sure if you have heard the news about Francis Ford Coppola’s latest movie: TWIXT. First, it is a horror movie. Nothing new about that. But here is the kicker – the movie will be changed during the viewing depending on the audience’s reaction. Yes, you read that right. The movie will be altered with different scenes for that particular live audience BY the director himself. AMAZING concept.

Now, I don’t know how many viewings he will do or how this will get out to mass audiences, but I sort of want to see it now although horror movies scare the heck out of me. I will forgo my own fears to experience something like that.

The Debt Trailer

the debt release, the debt, the debt trailerWho doesn’t love Helen Mirren?! Well, she ‘s back in The Debt due for August 2011 release. Check out the storyline below and then enjoy the trailer!

The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren) and Stefan (two-time Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds of Focus’ “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”). All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1966, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain [soon to be seen in "The Tree of Life"], Marton Csokas [Universal's upcoming "Dream House"], and Sam Worthington ["Avatar," "Clash of the Titans"]) tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen of “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace”) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team’s mission was accomplished — or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations.

Production Diary #16 – Week 17

By Pedro Sttau Wednesday, July 20, 2011 7 Comments

It has been a long time since I have updated our project’s log, the closer we get to launch day the more hectic things are getting.

At this moment all of core functionalities of the frontoffice and backoffice are in place, we are now focusing on delivering details, and unfortunately these are taking a long time to complete.
As you might have guessed by now we will not be able to comply with the release date that we committed too, it’s the second time we have let you all down.

The project’s immensity has really taken a toll on the development team, and we were faced with technical challenged that were impossible to predict.

Tonight I will be issuing a formal statement with the project’s new release date.
You have all been fantastic and your emails of encouragement are truly what keeps us going strong despite all of the mishaps.

Okay, quick post here. Twitter is a flurry with angry NetFlix customers, so much so that the term “dear netflix” is trending!

What I want to know, is why use them anyways?! I have ondemand and I LOVE redbox. So am I really missing out because I wait for the movies to be available? Don’t people remember paying $5 for one movie just a few years ago?!

I understand the frustrations, but people really! Blasting Netflix via Twitter and Facebook is no way to go. You don;t think they knew this back lash would occur?!

What are your thoughts on the NetFlix price increases?

Saving Grace B Jones: Trailer

By Lisa Sunday, July 10, 2011 4 Comments

Okay, now this is my kind of movie folks! Anything having to do with crazies at the asylum is right up my alley. Saving Grace B. Jones stars Penelope Ann Miller and Tatum O’neal as Grace (go figure); listed below is a general synopsis of the flick. Following that is the trailer that has been released for the film. Let me know your thoughts!

In a 1950s-era Missouri town, the life of a couple is thrown into chaos when the husband’s sister is released from the local asylum and comes to live with the family.

Cowboys & Aliens: I Just Don’t Know

By Lisa Friday, July 8, 2011 3 Comments

I know I should be all thrilled that Harrison Ford is in this flick. I mean, that could be the saving grace for Cowboys and Aliens. However, everytime I see the preview I just shake my head. I just don’t know that this flick is going to be on my list of movies to see.

It looks funky to me. I mean, I like the realistic factor in movies as much as the next person. I can handle crazy plots and scenearios too. But this??? I mean, it’s John Wayne meets E.T.!! ( I think John Wayne would win that battle.)

Am I crazy? Am I missing something here? It looks flat out nut-zoid to me and I don’t even know if I could sit through it to give a review!!! :) What are your thoughts on Cowboys and Aliens? Trailer is below.
